I constantly wondered if I was in the right profession.
36 He took a little child whom he placed among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them, 37 “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.” Mark 9: 26
It could be that Jesus likened himself to a child, who is helpless and vulnerable. Which follows the next point that if we are Jesus's disciples, we are to be like Jesus, who likened Himself to a little child. Hence we are to be helpless and needy. And this relates to the verse that says Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.” Hence, we are the little children.
Lastly, it could mean that we are to welcome the little children and other people who are like the little children. People who are helpless, poor and needy. But also, those who are unappreciative and ungrateful. And also those who have little or no social status and who cannot 'benefit' you in any way possible and the only benefit of the relationship with them, is that you would have lost much but at the same time, would have been great in the Kingdom of God.
I am not saying that teaching is the best profession for me But I do think that it's my training ground, to become more Christ-like in every way possible.
To feel helpless and needy, like a child, when I am handling a class alone.
To love my neighbour as myself, which is the second greatest commandment of all. Thus, to love the unlovable. And lastly, to be the 'Jesus' to them so that for that time spent with them, they would know and experience what it means to be in the loving presence of Jesus and so that, one day, their hearts will remember this and that they might know Jesus personally.
On a side note, maybe this training is to prevent a shock attack, when I do have a family on my own.
Thank you dear Holy Spirit for this insight.
I can't say yet how I feel, but I know that You have a purpose in my life and this past few years have not been out of Your plan for my life. I love you, Lord Jesus.
Help me, help me, help me. (haha)
Bring on the holidays already :)
